#056 Busy day
Dec. 4th, 2017 09:00 pm So today was... something. It actually started out alright. I woke up kinda late at 10am and got going, fed Tama, showered, all the usual stuff. I felt really inspired to do some art so I made a concept/mock-up of a painting I'd like to do for our Pagan moot organizer Ian. He honestly does so much for so many people and for the community, so I want to try and show him how special he is... I'm not sure what else to do besides art, but it's a start. I have until the 19th anyways.
It's actually funny because I dreamt that I did a painting for him, did the mock-up and then actually walked into him (almost literally) today in town. Pretty cool synchronicity if you ask me!
Anyways, after I did the painting mock-up I did commission work for a little before heading out to the hospital. My bus was at 2.08pm but for some reason I had it in my head that I needed to head out the door at 2pm. Maybe for someone who doesn't have neuropathy... I kinda realized I needed to get going at 2.45 or so and grabbed my things and went out. When I was almost into town my left leg completely cramped and the pain started to surge up. I tried my best but I ended up missing the bus. It was literally coming up the road as I was walking there but I can't run, otherwise I might have caught it.
It sucked but okay... I still was able to get the second bus as I was going an hour in advance. My appointment was at 3.30 and the bus gets there at 25 past the hour so of course I wanted to be there in time. I usually sit in the cafeteria and write, read or draw.
So I missed it... oh well. I went off to have a wander around the shops with the hope to get some Christmas/Yule cards. I didn't get any as they were pretty expensive but I did find a little cat book for my Auntie. I also got inspired to make my own christmas cards, so that's something. On the way out of one of the shops my ankle buckled and I almost fell. Thank the gods I had my stick with me otherwise I would have fallen. That fucked up my ankle nice and good and I was so close to tears at this point.
I hobbled to the bus stop and waited for the next bus which was, of course, late. Then my pass wouldn't scan at first and the driver got annoyed which didn't help my mood either. Then we set off and once in Oadby the bus had to stop as there was an accident.
I don't know what happened and I tried looking it up online but nothing. There were two ambulances, several police cards, the road was closed and... there was what appeared to be a large, person-sized puddle of blood in the middle of the street. Well, fuck. That shook me up big time. I don't know if it was the fact that was there or the fact the ambulances were silent. It gave me the shivers.
The bus driver said that was the second accident of the day, and we continued on. He had to go a different route due to another road being closed for the accident. It was really messed up and I was so anxious. Every time the bus made a sudden stop for cars in front my heart leapt into my mouth.
Finally we got to the hospital and I was 15 minutes late. Thankfully the clinic was also running late and I got in pretty much straight away. The guy I saw was very nice and kind and he made me feel much better. They signed me onto the DAFNE course which I'll be doing in June and I'm pretty excited for it! I'm finally coming to terms with my diabetes and so it's gonna be awesome to meet other T1Ds and learn all the latest stuff.
I had good luck on the way back having to only wait 10 mins for the bus. And then I went to Wilko's to get a gift and some more wrapping paper.
Needless to say I am absolutely exhausted today now and I really hope my body doesn't give me hell tomorrow. I'm gonna have an early night and hope everything is good tomorrow!
